Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are now parents to a baby girl named Daisy Dove.
The announcement of the baby’s birth was made through a statement released by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Thursday.
Perry and Bloom serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for the humanitarian aid organization for children.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the statement read.
While they celebrate the birth of their daughter, the couple acknowledged that they were “the lucky ones” as communities around the world are experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers.
“Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes,” the couple’s statement read.
Perry and Bloom said that since the COVID-19 pandemic started, more newborn babies are at risk of “the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases”.

“As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever,” Perry and Bloom said.
Because of this, Perry and Bloom announced that they have set up a donation page in their daughter’s name.
Daisy Dove is the couple’s first child together. Bloom is already a dad to 9-year-old Flynn, who he shares with Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr.
It was in March when Perry revealed her pregnancy in a music video for her song “Never Worn White”.
A month later, the couple announced they were expecting a baby girl.
Perry and Bloom have been engaged since February 2019.
