Japanese retailer Uniqlo is set to launch three new outlets in Indonesia from mid-October 2020 to January 2021.

On Oct. 23 and 29, Uniqlo Indonesia will open new stores at Trans Studio Mall Bandung and AEON Mall Sentul City in West Java, respectively. The stores will be the fashion retailer’s third branch in Bandung and first branch in Bogor.

The first Uniqlo store in Kalimantan is scheduled to open on Jan. 29, 2021, located at Gaia Bumi Raya City shopping center in Kubu Raya regency, West Kalimantan.

Currently, Uniqlo already has a total of 32 stores in 15 cities in Indonesia.

Naoki Kamogawa, president director of PT Fast Retailing Indonesia (Uniqlo Indonesia), said in a statement that the company wished to ensure that customers in Indonesia could access Uniqlo’s latest collections.

“We’re glad that we hold a special place in the hearts of people in Indonesia. Therefore, we’re committed to not only providing high quality products but also contributing to the locals by opening up job opportunities and boosting the economy in the areas,” said Kamogawa.

Uniqlo is a fashion brand under Tokyo-based global retail company PT Fast Retailing, Co. Ltd. In September, Uniqlo began selling its AIRism masks in its Indonesian stores, responding to health concerns and a high demand from customers. When the mask was first launched in Japan in June, it caused long lines at Uniqlo stores in the country and its website crashed due to high demand. (wir/wng)
