Bangkok-based fashion e-commerce Pomelo opened its first store in Indonesia on Dec. 4 at Central Park Mall, West Jakarta.

The platform is on a mission to expand its network of retail stores to Indonesia and Malaysia in addition to the already established locations in Thailand and Singapore.

According to a press release, Pomelo will boost its sustainability efforts by featuring easily recyclable materials in the new store, including wood and raw metals. It claims that 90 percent of the materials used can be separated for recycling. The store also aims to reach its reduce-reuse-recycle goals by selling products with particular designs and weight to reduce its carbon footprint.

For a dual online-offline shopping experience, with Pomelo's Tap.Try.Buy. users are able to choose products online, try them on at a Pomelo store and pay for them there. Another feature on its app, "in-store mode", allows customers to pick up and pay for their orders directly, book a fitting room and receive updates on their waiting number.

“Creating a seamless omnichannel experience has always been at the core of what we do at Pomelo, and it’s what allows us to continue expanding our retail presence at a time when other brands may be doing the opposite,” Anders Heikenfeldt, Pomelo’s chief retail officer, said in a statement.

Indonesian customers can shop for products from Pomelo’s recent collaborations with Milin, a party wear collection created in collaboration with renowned Thai designer Milin Yuvacharuskul, as well as a Barbie collection that displays an array of statement pieces in fun, feminine silhouettes.
