JAKARTA: Film producers Ari Sihasale and Nia Zulkarnain say they will continue making films for children after producing Liburan Seru...!! (Adventurous Holiday...!), a musical movie released in theaters in time for the school holidays on July 3.
"Childhood memories are so beautiful and unforgettable for many people. We therefore think it is very special to make children's movies," the 38-year-old artist told journalists after screening her new film on Monday.
The celebrity couple's first production, Denias, Senandung di Atas Awan (Denias, Melodies above the clouds) in 2006, which tells the story of a Papuan boy who believes that going to school will make him stronger than the mountains, achieved critical success.
Nia, actress and daughter of acclaimed actor Dicky Zulkarnaen, set up production house Alenia Pictures with husband Ari Sihasale, a member of boy band Cool Color in the 1990s before enjoying a stellar career as a TV soup actor in Ali Topan Anak Jalanan (Ali Topan The Street Boy).
As actors, the two often appear in their own films. In their latest film, Ari appears as a train officer. JP/Ary Hermawan
