JAKARTA: The United States Embassy in Jakarta announced Friday the start of the 2010 Diversity Visa Lottery, or the green card lottery, for which Indonesians can apply to be able to live and work in the United States, it said in a press release to The Jakarta Post.
Indonesia is one of the eligible countries for the lottery, which provides for up to 50,000 immigration visas per year, globally. Registration, which is free, can be done at www.dvlottery.state.gov from Oct. 2 to Dec. 1.
Lottery winners are selected by a computerized random drawing and will be notified by regular mail between May and July next year. During the 2007 DV Lottery, around 30,000 Indonesians applied and 245 were selected as winners. --JP
