URABAYA: On Thursday, East Java Police named businessman Alim Markus, the owner of PT Maspion Group, a suspect for his alleged involvement in forging ownership documents for a house on Jl. Pemuda 17.
"Alim Markus *president director* and Eska Kanasut *a director* are suspects in the forgery of documents of a house on Jl. Pemuda 17," police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Pudji Astuti said.
However, Pudji said police had not detained Alim as they will continue questioning other witnesses and seek further evidence related to the two-story house, which was built during the Dutch colonial era.
Alim was reported to the police by Surya Atmadinata, director of PT Singa Baron Kencana (SBK).
"The first story belonged to PT Maspion while the second story was owned by PT SBK," Pudji said.
She said the forged document stated that the house had been bought by Alim from the Surabaya Administration in 1997. Based on the faked document, Alim demolished the house in 2007.
Meanwhile, Alim claimed that he obtained the document of the house from Surabaya's Public Works Agency.
