AKARTA: Two years after their sixth album, pop band Sheila On 7 finally unveiled their plan to release a new record soon, a tribute to late composer AT Mahmud, who was famous for his children’s songs.

The band’s bassist, Adam Muhammad Subarkah, said recently that the new album would have less than the usual 10 songs, one of them being a cover version of an AT Mahmud song.

“Our label came up with the idea of making this album a tribute to AT Mahmud,” Adam told newsportal Okezone.com. “There will be one AT Mahmud song, but we can’t tell you the title yet.

“We feel honored to be covering an AT Mahmud song. Although his songs are composed for children, they are meaningful [for all].”

According to the band’s vocalist Akhdiyat Duta Modjo, the band is currently adding the finishing touches to their album, whose title is still a secret.

“All I can say is that one of the singles is titled ‘Hari Bersamanya’ [The Day with Her],” Duta said, adding that their new songs expressed positive emotions – rather than dwell on broken hearts. — JP
