EPOK: A domestic worker in Depok, West Java, was arrested after attempting to poison her employer.

Taniroh, a 17-year-old who had worked for only one day at the house of Tioma Theresia, was upset about her new job of looking after Tioma’s 6-year-old child and placed poison in the child’s drink.

“She put mosquito repellent into the thermos flask, hoping that the child would drink it. It turns out that Tioma drank it first,” Depok Police chief Comr. Ade Rahmat Idnal was quoted as saying by news portal kompas.com.

Tioma survived the poisoning but had to receive medical attention.

Ade said the suspect’s only motive was to get away from her employer. Police found no indications Taniroh was attempting to murder or rob her employer. — JP
