Legendary footballers attack, AC Milan Glorie vs. Indonesian All Star Legends

Muslims are refraining from overdoing things during the holy month of Ramadan, and the way things slow down during the month here in the capital of the country with the world’s largest Muslim population has prompted institutions to bring matters to a halt for the next 30 days

uslims are refraining from overdoing things during the holy month of Ramadan, and the way things slow down during the month here in the capital of the country with the world’s largest Muslim population has prompted institutions to bring matters to a halt for the next 30 days.

But life is certain to go back to the way it was after August, with September invoking most Indonesians to proudly wear their red-and-white T-shirts once again to greet the Italians. AC Milan Glorie has confirmed its arrival, ready to accept the challenge of the Indonesian All Star Legends on Sept. 4, 2011 at 7 p.m.

No, you will not see an all-out match between the current Indonesian national team and active players of AC Milan. As a matter of fact, aptly called a friendly match, the charity game will see the proceeds of ticket sales given to Nahdlatul Ulama as the appointed organization for disaster relief efforts.

Instead of current players, AC Milan Glorie will deploy some of the soccer gods AC Milan has had in its glory days, including Nelson Dida, Massimo Taibi, Franco Baresi, Alessandro Costacurta, Christian Panucci, Pietro Vierchwood, Roberto Mussi, Giuseppe Favalli, Giuseppe Pancaro, Stefano Eranio, Gigi Lentini, Diego Fuser, Angelo Carbone, Mario Bortolazzi, Roberto Lorenzini, Marcos Cafu, Serginho, Daniele Massaro, Maurizio Ganz, Jean Pierre Papin and George Weah. Players among the Indonesia All Star Legends, on the other hand, will include Ricky Yakobi, Yeyen Tumena, Hendro Kartiko, Rully Nerre, Rochy Puttiray, Philippe N’diono, Patar Tambunan, Fachry Husaini, Ponaryo Astaman, Jaya Hartono, Hermansyah, Widodo Cahyono Putro, Aji Santoso, Bima Sakti, Charis Yulianto and Robby Darwis.

The match, part of the Milan Foundation’s “Asia Disaster Relief Tour 2011” will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and will be broadcast live by RCTI as the game’s official broadcaster.

But since the idea is to buy tickets and watch the match live at the stadium, actually being there to cheer on our Indonesian legends, or the other way around, would be far more preferable.

Tickets are priced between Rp 50,000 and Rp 1,250,000 for VIP, and can be attained at authorized ticket sellers, including our beloved Ibu Dibjo, located behind Texas Fried Chicken in Cikini, Prambors Concept Store on Jl. Adityawarman, Ticket Station in Kebon Jeruk and online distributors that include Plasa.com, Tiku.co.id and RajaKarcis.com.

Milan Glorie has been quite active in playing similar games throughout the world in recent years, holding a friendly match with the Japanese All Stars after the recent tsunami. After the match in Japan, they decided to tour Asia and hold similar matches, in which Indonesia is one of the designated cities.
