AKARTA: Virginia Anggraeni, the wife of dangdut singer Saipul Jamil, died in a traffic accident on the Cipularang toll road in West Java on Saturday.

The couple married in March of this year.

In an interview with tempointeraktif.com, Saipul, who was driving the car, said that dysfunctional brakes were the cause of the accident.

He said that the accident occurred when the car, which was also carrying six of his relatives, suddenly lost its balance. “I was holding the wheel. Suddenly the car lost balance. There was a strong wind. The brakes failed, the car became uncontrollable and crashed into a road divider,” he said.

Virginia was buried at Baros Cemetery in Cimahi, West Java, on the day of the accident.
