AKARTA: The city government expects a Rp 3.68 trillion (US$408 million) surplus leftover from this year’s Rp 30.9 trillion budget.
City Development Planning Board head Sarwo Handayani said, however, that weak spending was not responsible for the leftover budget.
“We have become more efficient, especially with cheaper infrastructure from speedy tender processes,” Sarwo said.
The board recorded that Jakarta had spent 56 percent of its budget as of Nov. 11, compared to 49.1 percent at around the same time last year.
The city administration spent about 70 percent of its budget in 2010, leaving a surplus of Rp 4.9 trillion.
