ANGERANG: The Tangerang AIDS Prevention Commission (KPA) says it recorded 420 people suspected of having HIV/AIDS in the regency this year, with 169 people confirmed as HIV-positive.

The number was higher than last year, when 342 people were suspected of contracting the virus with 142 confirmed positive, Tangerang KPA head Hady Irawan said, adding that the spread of the deadly virus in the regency was worrying.

Hady described the recorded figure as only the tip of an iceberg, as many people suspected of living with AIDS were not willing to report to the KPA and undergo testing.
