Indonesian film figure passes away at 78

AKARTA: Director and scriptwriter Misbach Yusa Biran, known for pioneering the Indonesian film archive, died on Wednesday morning at the age of 78.

Kompas.com reported the filmmaker passed away after undergoing intensive treatment at Eka Hospital in Tangerang

He is survived by his wife, veteran actress Nani Widjaya, with whom he had six children.

According to a relative, Misbach will be buried in a family graveyard in Bogor, next to his late daughter Sukma Ayu, an actress who died at 24.

Apart from being active in film, Misbach was also known as a scriptwriter, a short story writer and a columnist.
