URABAYA: Rumah Cantik Citra has unveiled a new concept of beauty treatment at its Surabaya center that mixes a traditional touch with modern design. The introduction of the concept in April coincides with the anniversary of the birth of RA Kartini, a 19th century Javanese noblewoman who is recognized as a pioneer in the women’s emancipation movement in the archipelago.

“In following the spirit of Kartini, Citra believes that modern Kartinis always have their own dreams and contribute to their immediate surroundings, and by doing so are an inspiration to other women,” Johan Lie, the brand manager of Citra PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk, was quoted as saying in a release. “They will always respect themselves in order to be respected by others, and personal care is part of that self respect …”

Located at Jl. Raya Gubeng 23 in the East Java capital, the facility offers hand and foot massage, face, back and body massage, and scrub treatment. It also has a circulatory massage technique that was exclusively created for the beauty parlor by spa consultant Andi Armin.
