AKARTA: A five-on-five soccer tournament conducted in a more relaxed fashion began on Monday. Winning teams will ' be granted special access to meet Dutch soccer stars'.
A Dutch national team will go up against an Indonesian team in a friendly match on June 7.
The five-on-five soccer game, organized by sport apparel maker Nike, features five players on each side like futsal (indoor soccer), but may be played on outdoor fields with only 1x15 minute playing time.
Since the playing style is adaptable to different environments, a match could be conducted under an overpass or bleak soil, according to Nike marketing manager Nino Priambodo.
'We are bringing the game closer to where they usually play,' Nino said during a media conference.
Participating teams consist of seven players aged between 15 and 18-years-old. The tournament will commence on May 19 with the knockout qualifying stage to be conducted on five designated playing fields located in five regions of Jakarta.
