he management of PetroChina International Jabung Ltd, a local subsidiary of China'€™s petroleum giant PetroChina, says it is committed to continuing 14 corporate social responsibility (CSR)programs the company and the local administration have agreed to for the 2012-2013 budget year.

PetroChina Int.Companies in Indonesia'€™s communication manager Novie Latanna said the implementation of the CSR programs for the regency would take time. Some programs had been completed but several other projects were still in the tender preparation process.

'€œNevertheless, all projects will be implemented until complete,'€ said Novie in a statement on Tuesday.

Novie made the comments following a recent dispute with a local administration concerning the blockade of the company'€™s oil wells in Jambi.

'€œThe blockade of a number of oil and gas wells in our operational areas has nothing to do with the implementation of our CSR programs,'€ said Novie.

Although the blockade was still ongoing, Novie said that upstream oil and gas watchdog SKKMigas and PetroChina were still committed to implementing the programs which were aimed at helping local communities.

The CSR programs include the development of community health centers, schools, houses of worship, water treatment facilities, electricity networks, roads and house renovations for poor families.

As previously reported, the East Tanjungjabung regency administration sealed access to the well sites on May 24 saying that the oil and gas contractor had failed to obtain the proper permits to carry out their activities.

The blockade has caused Indonesia to lose crude oil production of 433 barrels per day and gas output of 11 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), according to PetroChina'€™s data. (asw/ebf)
