AKARTA: PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia, a subsidiary of American oil and gas giant Chevron, will have a new supervisor next month following outgoing Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit managing director Jeffrey E. Shellebarger's planned move to Texas.

Charles A. Taylor, previously Chevron Corp's vice president for strategic planning, will take over Shellebarger's position overseeing the corporation's upstream activities in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The Texas-based company said that the appointment of Taylor, whose past experience with Chevron includes businesses in Nigeria and the UK, had been approved by upstream oil and gas watchdog SKKMigas.

'It is an honor to lead a strategic business unit with such a long history and track record of successful partnership,' said Taylor in a statement
released on Monday. 'By working collaboratively with our partners, upholding our values, and supporting our local communities, I believe we will continue that success.'

Last week, SKKMigas head Rudi Rubiandini said Shellebarger, who will assume the Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company president position, was leaving Indonesia while a corruption trial involving four Chevron employees was ongoing.

Separately, Chevron Indonesia's spokesman Dony Indrawan denied that Shellebarger's departure was related to the case.

Chevron is currently the largest crude oil producer in Indonesia, thanks to its operations mainly in Sumatra Island, producing around 40 percent of Indonesia's total oil production.
