W

itnesses in the graft trial of former national traffic police commander Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo revealed on Tuesday that the policeman might have forged his identity when he married his second wife, Mahdiana.

One of nine witnesses summoned to testify at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday said that in a business transaction Mahdiana introduced her husband as Andika Susilo.

'€œI am a good friend of Mahdiana. Our children go to the same school. Whenever we met, she introduced him as Mas Dika,'€ the witness Henny Rayani said.

Henny was involved in the transaction with Mahdiana when she purchased a plot of land from Djoko'€™s wife in November 2012.

Henny claimed that Mahdiana repeatedly told her about her rocky marriage to Djoko.

'€œHe always told her that his government job was top secret and because of that she wanted to get a divorce,'€ she said in her testimony.

A relative of Mahdiana, Ali Sudin, gave a similar account in his testimony. Ali said that he attended the wedding of Djoko and Mahdiana in 2001.

'€œHe wanted to be called Mas Dika,'€ Ali told the court.

Djoko did not rebut the claims but said that among close family members he was frequently called Dika.

'€œIn my family they always call me Dika,'€ Djoko said.

Djoko is charged with graft and money laundering in his role in the driving simulator procurement graft case that caused Rp 144.9 billion (US$14 million) of state losses.

Last week, Djoko rejected prosecutors'€™ demands to present all three of his wives in court and insisted that his marriages were his private business.

He said he was afraid his wives would be put under too much psychological pressure if they were to testify in court, his lawyer, Teuku Nasrullah, said.

Djoko has three children with his first wife Suratmi, whom he married in 1985.

He has another two children with his second wife, Mahdiana, whom he married in 2001.

In 2008, Djoko, who was then 48, took teen pageant queen Dipta Anindita as his third wife, when she was only 19.

Djoko accumulated Rp 43 billion in assets between 2010 and 2012, using the names of his relatives including his three wives and two children, Eva Susilo Handayani and Poppy Femialya.
