ity-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya will hold a ballot for the stalls for street vendors in Pasar Minggu market in South Jakarta on Monday.
PD Pasar Jaya's Pasar Minggu office head Ruyani said on Wednesday that 276 street vendors had registered with the company and would be in the draw next Monday.
"The draw will be based on the type of merchandize," he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
Ruyani said PD Pasar Jaya had prepared locations on the first and second floors of Blok B and in the first floor of Blok C for the vendors.
The first and the second floors of Blok B will be dedicated to grocery sellers while the first floor of Blok C will be assigned for vendors of clothes and other non-food items, he added.
Street vendors who swarmed on Jl. Pasar Minggu are those who have been most affected by the traffic-regulation program of the city administration.
After Pasar Minggu, the Kebayoran Lama market is expected to follow suit. The South Jakarta municipal administration announced recently that the market area would be cleared of street vendors by the end of this month and they would be relocated to nearby traditional markets.
