Another hydrochloric acid attack on high school students took place on Friday.

A group of people were seen splashing the acid onto four students of SMA Muhammadiyah in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, in the morning.

'€œThese students were heading to school on motorcycles when 10 people showed up from an alley and directly threw the acid onto them,'€ said Eko Handoyo, the school'€™s counseling teacher.

Three students suffered from light burns on their necks and arms, while the other student was injured as he fell from a motorcycle while attempting to avoid the acid.

Last week, 14 people on a public bus became victims of an acid attack when 18-year-old student Ridwan Noor boarded the bus in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, and began spraying hydrochloric acid on the passengers.

He had targeted four vocational high school students in their school uniforms onboard.

Upon his arrest the next day, Ridwan said he had mistaken the targets as he intended to attack students from another school.

Ridwan was charged with violating Article 351 (2) of the Criminal Code on severe persecution, which carried a maximum punishment of five years'€™ imprisonment.
