Mayapada hospital treats accident victims

Road cash victims from accidents in South Jakarta can now get free medical treatment at a Mayapada Hospital in the municipality.

The bills of victims, including motorists, bus riders and pedestrians, will now be covered up to Rp 10 million (US$850) following the signing of a cooperation agreement on Wednesday between state-run insurance company PT Jasa Raharja and the hospital.

'€œMany victims in traffic accidents are often afraid to go to hospitals for medical care, afraid they won'€™t be able to afford the costs,'€ hospital director David Santoso said.

'€œThis often results in their injuries worsening, and could result in a fatality due to delayed medical treatment.'€ (alz)
