he management of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II), laid out the red carpet in honor of the eight Indonesian students who brought home medals from the 21st International Young Scientists Contest (IYSC).
AP II prepared a special welcoming party and flowers upon the students' arrival from Belgrade, Serbia, at Terminal 2E on Thursday. Among the welcoming party were the students' friends from Surya University, which provided a team to accompany the students during the contest.
The eight students won two gold medals in the Mathematics and Ecology categories, two silvers in Life Sciences and Ecology, two bronzes in Mathematics and Ecology and one special mention award for Computer Science. The students also won the best scientific poster award.
Herman Dewantoro, the gold medalist in math from high school SMA Cita Hati, Surabaya, East Java, said he was proud to have done his best for the country. He took the medal for his research into animal flocks titled 'Chaotic Bare Bones Particle Swarm Optimization.'
