Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is preparing its written entrance exam (Utul) and will enroll 1,257 fresh students from 6,606 applicants.
'The Utul selection system is carried out independently by UGM,' UGM academic administration director Sri Peni Wastuningsih said on Wednesday.
The Utul registration was opened on April 11 and will closed on June 12.
The written exam will be conducted on June 17 in a number of cities, such as Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Balikpapan [East Kalimantan] and Pekanbaru [Riau],' she added.
The Utul includes tests on academic potential, basic ability and character. UGM also carries out several other selection systems, including the National Entrance Test for State Universities (SNMPTN), which will enroll 3,227 students, or 50 percent of its total enrollment, while the Joint Selection and Entrance to State Universities (SBMPTN) will accept 2,033 new students, or 30 percent of the total enrollment.
