P

residential candidate Prabowo Subianto announced at the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Tuesday that his current wealth was valued at Rp 1.6 trillion (US$134.5 million) and $7.5 million, slightly up from his 2009 wealth report, which stood at Rp 1.5 trillion.

Kompas.com reported that Prabowo also announced, as of May 20, he had Rp 28.9 million in debts.

Breaking down his assets, Prabowo said that his wealth consisted of Rp 105.8 billion in non-moveable property, which comprises four plots of land.

Meanwhile, his mobile assets consisted of eight vehicles worth Rp 1.43 billion and other assets in the form of art and antique collections worth Rp 3 billion, Rp 1.52 trillion and $27,633 in securities, Rp 20.4 billion and $3,134 in cash, time deposits and current accounts deposited in five bank accounts, as well as Rp 1.22 billion of other unidentified movable assets.

Prabowo also reported that he ran three businesses valued at Rp 12.1 billion in seven sectors, including plantation, forestry and mining.

Prabowo publicly announced his wealth at the KPU as required by a mandate stipulated in the 2008 Presidential Elections Law. His running mate Hatta Rajasa, as well as rival presidential candidate Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla, also announced their wealth on Tuesday.

Last week, the four filed their wealth reports with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which verified and clarified the reports before allowing the candidates to make the announcements at the KPU. (gda)
