Another male Komodo dragon at the Surabaya Zoo was found dead in its enclosure on Thursday morning.
The cause of death of the large 11-year-old reptile was allegedly due to digestive complications. It is the third Komodo dragon to perish at the zoo this year, following the deaths of two other dragons in February and June.
Your comments:
Surabaya Zoo is too noisy for this beautiful animal. Why don't we just send them back to their natural habitat on Komodo Island?

This is just the continuation of a very sad story. The animals are kept in cages and enclosures and so they're dependent on human care directed by the zoo's management. It seems the management is prepared to say 'yes, there is a problem' but then always they steer the blame away from themselves. In this case, 'management' doesn't mean knowledgeable management and therein lies the problem.
Also, the management of a healthy zoo isn't the same as the management of a unhealthy zoo. It is becoming increasingly evident that this particular zoo's management will wait until all the animals are dead before it realizes that something professional should have been done.

It's ridiculous that Indonesia cannot even manage the issues facing a zoo and yet it wants to try to manage the 2019 Asian Games. We will definitely see the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) following up on a few more Hambalang-style cases.

Eighty-one animals are sick, disabled and old, and 44 of them are in a severe condition, health-wise (January 2014). So why aren't the zoo's owners and its entire management put in a cage and forced to eat garbage and whatever other hazardous items are thrown at them to feast on? They should be made to experience what it feels like to be treated in the way that they treat these animals. Just shut it down permanently!

If the death of the animals continues, the government should turn its attention to the zoo's management system. It should not regard this incident as less important than other political issues.
