AKARTA: Akhdiyat Duta Modjo, vocalist of pop-rock outfit Sheila on 7, said loyal fans were very important to the band, and the glue that kept them stuck together as a group.

'€œFans serve as a reminder for us to keep our ego checked as a group,'€
Duta said as quoted by kompas.com.

The 34-year-old said like many other bands, Sheila on 7 often faces internal rifts between its members, which can lead to some uncomfortable times.

'€œWe realize each of us has a strong ego. When problems arise, I usually pose the basic question about what our purpose was in forming the group. We are able to suppress our egos with that thought,'€ Duta said.

The band, formed in 1996, was a pop phenomenon during its peak years in the early 2000s and was one of the last few pop-rock acts to sell a million records before the Indonesian recording music business hit a decline.
