T Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), the authorized dealer of Tata vehicles, is slated to introduce a diesel-powered small truck, the Tata Ace EX2, during the Indonesia International Motor Show next week.
The small truck, or Pickup Micro, has an engine capacity of 702 cc and is expected to help improve economic activities in rural areas.
The Tata Ace EX2 is an improvement on its predecessor, the Tata Ace EX, which was launched in 2005. Over nine years, Tata sold more than 1 million units in several countries.
'After two years of car testing in Indonesia, we believe the Tata Ace EX2, which has an advantage in operational costs, is suitable to help develop rural economies. We will launch it during the IIMS 2014,' TMDI president director Biswadev Sengupta said, referring to the motor show, which starts on Sept. 18.
With efficient fuel consumption, Tata Motors is confident the small truck will be the commercial vehicle of choice in rural areas to develop the local economy.
The launch will be attended by executives of the International Commercial Vehicles Business Unit of Tata Motors Ltd.
