AKARTA: Shin Hae-chul, the famed Korean rock star known as 'The Prince of Darkness', died on Monday, five days after he fell into a coma.
Yonhap news agency reported that Shin was admitted to Asan Medical Center on Oct. 22 after a heart attack resulting from a widespread infection in the peritoneum, or abdominal cavity lining, and intestines.
The 46-year-old, noted for his albums Myself (1991) and Monocrom (1998), was famous for projects such as N.EX.T (New Experimental Team) and was the first major Korean singer to use MIDI players and explore the techno genre, the website 10 Magazine said.
