An international muay thai tournament is scheduled to take place at the Pertamina Simprug sports hall in Jakarta on Dec. 6.
The one-day tournament, tagged as Naksoo Muay Thai Fight, is being co-organized by Melbourne-based Dynamite Muay Thai and local Baan Muay Thai.
'I expect this tournament to instill concerns about Indonesian muay thai development,' Dennis O'dea, an Indonesian-naturalized Australian, said in a press release on Monday.
The event promoter and owner of Dynamite Muay Thai said he wanted the world to pay attention to Indonesian muay thai talents.
'Indonesian fighters deserve to attain sponsorship deals. I want to concentrate on this matter by giving Indonesian and Australian fighters opportunity for more exposure to the world,' he said.
Francois Mohere, the owner of Baan Muay Thai camp and chairman of Indonesian Professional Muay Thai, hails the event as a good occasion for local muay thai development.
'This trust to hold an international tournament in Indonesia augurs well for our muay thai development,' he said.
The tournament will feature 14 classes of muay thai.
