span class="caption">Recovery operation: Personnel from Indonesian Navy warship the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366 transport on Wednesday the body of a passenger of AirAsia flight QZ8501, in Suar Gosong Aruba waters in the Java Sea. The body was found at 6:35 a.m. around 80 nautical miles from the place where the plane last made contact with ground control.
After the disappearance on Sunday of AirAsia flight QZ8501 from radar as it was en route from Surabaya to Singapore, the government responded rapidly by ordering all units of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the police to search for the missing passenger plane.
The Indonesian Navy immediately deployed its 13 warships on a search and rescue mission in the Karimata Strait, where it was estimated that the plane might have crashed. The KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366 is one of those 13 warships. The most recent mission of the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366 was to secure the waters of Natuna and Anambas Island, Riau Islands, from illegal fishermen.
The warship, which is one of the stars of the Navy, sailed straightaway to the Karimata Strait. If not for the mission, many crew members would have taken leave to celebrate the New Year, but duty comes first for all the crew of the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366. Ignoring New Year's celebrations, the soldiers and crew joined one of the country's biggest humanitarian missions.
One of The Jakarta Post's photographers joined the soldiers and crew on board the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366. Here are some highlights of the warship's noble mission.
Possible location: Two Navy officers point on Monday at possible locations of the missing AirAsia plane on a map at the Navy's Command Operations Center in Batam, Riau Islands.
Continuing search: A soldier looks on Wednesday at debris of AirAsia flight QZ8501 using binoculars while on board the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366 warship in the Karimata Strait.

Ready to evacuate: Crew members of the KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366 warship lower on Wednesday a motorized rubber boat into the sea to recover an AirAsia flight QZ8501 passenger's body in Suar Gosong Aruba waters, the Java Sea.
