Actor and martial artist Yayan Ruhian, renowned for his memorable performance as the villainous Mad Dog in the action flick The Raid, has been given a lead role in a Japanese movie entitled Yakuza Apocalypse.
Yayan, who is still teaching the traditional Indonesian pencak silat martial art despite his rise in the entertainment industry, will be the movie's only Indonesian actor, kapanlagi.com reported.
The movie is a fantasy story set among the Yakuza, the Japanese underworld criminal organization. It tells the story of a low-ranking Yakuza member, Akira Kageyama (Hayato Ichibara), who gets bitten by his boss, who turns out to be a vampire.
In the movie, Yayan will play the role of Kyoken, a villain and a member of an international assassin group.
