Asian information and technology giant Huawei Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Communications and Information Ministry to build an information, communication and technology (ICT) innovation center in Indonesia. The innovation center will be used to develop Indonesia'€™s human resources in the field of ICT and also as a training center for the company.

'€œThis is one of our commitments to developing Indonesia'€™s human resources,'€ chief executive of Huawei Indonesia Sheng Kai said on Tuesday.

The center would be fully funded by Huawei and the government, and both would take part in running the innovation center, the company'€™s president for global government affairs David Wang said. '€œWe also want to reduce the gap between the industry and universities,'€ Wang said, referring to the dynamic and ever-changing actual work in the field of ICT business in comparison with lagging university modules and research in the sector.

Huawei has invited 130 university students from five universities in Indonesia to take part in the Huawei Certified Network Associate (HCNA) Training program. Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara said he hoped that the partnership could become a platform for further cooperation where Huawei could build its technology center in Indonesia.
