adjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta has been recognized as the best archive institution in Indonesia by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI).
A total of 20 higher-education institutions (PT) were assessed by ANRI prior to the announcement.
Behind UGM, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta and Udayana University in Bali took second and third place respectively.
"Hopefully the recognition can boost our efforts to increase our quality further," head of UGM's archive office Tristiana Chandra Dewi Trias Iriani told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
Among the areas assessed by ANRI were archive management systems, standard norm guidelines and criteria, institutional status and completeness of facilities and infrastructure.
One of UGM's archivists Zaenudin said he received training on archive management every two months to increase the center's quality.
Currently the UGM archive office has 19 employees; 10 of them are archivists that handle 57,797 text archives, 428 special archives, 22,486 photo archives and 5,925 negative photo archives. The office also has archives in audio, video and film form. (kes)
