MEDAN: The North Sumatra provincial administration has invited investors from Belgium to build cacao processing plants in the province given the abundance of the commodity
EDAN: The North Sumatra provincial administration has invited investors from Belgium to build cacao processing plants in the province given the abundance of the commodity.
Interim governor Tengku Erry Nuradi said North Sumatra was the most profitable area in which to build the cacao processing plants thanks to the abundance of raw materials. He added that North Sumatra was the biggest cacao producer in Sumatra.
'I hope more investors from Belgium will come and invest in North Sumatra, especially to build factories, because we have plenty of raw materials, so we're economically viable,' Erry told Belgian Ambassador to Indonesia Patrick Herman when he visited the gubernatorial office in Medan on Friday.
In response to the offer, Herman said his country had used cacao beans from Indonesian cacao plantations, such as those found in North Sumatra, to produce chocolate. 'Our chocolate products are among the best in the world and we use cacao beans from Indonesia, including beans from North Sumatra,' said Hermann.
