he Jakarta Police have said that two witnesses they questioned on Monday are potential suspects in the murder and rape of 9-year-old Putri Nur Fauziah, as neither had a convincing alibi.
Putri was found dead in a cardboard box last week in an illegal garbage dump in Kalideres, West Jakarta. Forensics examination confirmed that she had been murdered and raped.
'We have listed local residents without a strong alibi. We found that [those listed] matched our findings,' Jakarta Police criminal detective director Sr. Comr. Khrisna Murti said, adding that the number of witnesses might increase. According to Khrisna, both of the witnesses live on Jl. Sahabat, Kamal, West Jakarta, 5 kilometers from the victim's house.
Khrisna also disclosed the police's suspicion that the perpetrators had chosen their victim randomly.
