n response to the latest update in the Sumber Waras case, the House of Representatives has decided not to interfere in the legal process.

The House's law enforcement working committee is still studying the audit result to confirm the real data related to the Sumber Waras case, the committee chairman Desmond Junaidi Mahesa said.

"We will summon the previous chairmen of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), because the Supreme Audit Agency [BPK] gave the audit result to the previous leaders of the KPK," Desmond told the press at the headquarters of the BPK in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The agency claimed that the audit was performed at the request of the prior leadership of the KPK, working under former acting KPK chairman Taufiequrachman Ruki. The House, Desmond said, decided to leave the case to the KPK.

"We don't think it's important to summon Pak Ahok for now," Benny said, referring to Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama.

Benny claimed the commission had acted swiftly in response to the current issue, and that the move was based on public reports. He further said the House did not intend to influence the KPK.

SETARA Institute chairman Hendardi said the House's move to discuss the Sumber Waras case was "too lavish". He accused the move of being fueled by political motives as opposed to honest motives connected to law enforcement. (ags)
