resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo arrived in the Russian resort city of Sochi on Wednesday for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and to attend an ASEAN-Russia summit.
Jokowi and the Indonesian delegation arrived at Adler International Airport in Sochi at 2:31 p.m. local time after a 10-hour flight from their previous state visit to Seoul, South Korea.
Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Wahid Supriyadi and Sochi Mayor Pakhomov Anatoly greeted Jokowi and the delegation after they landed with a traditional bread-and-salt welcoming ceremony.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki and Palace spokesman Johan Bodi accompanied the president on the trip.
Jokowi visited Bocharoc Rucey, the Russian President's official residence, on Wednesday evening where he met with Putin.
The two state leaders had a working dinner as well as a bilateral meeting where they witnessed several agreements in the sectors of defense, archives, culture and fisheries.
On Thursday, Jokowi will join Putin and other ASEAN leaders at a two-day summit aimed at strengthening ties between Russia and a group of nations representing a total of 600 million people. (rin)
