P

resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has asked government officials in all ministries and agencies to continuously monitor the implementation of development programs.

"I told them about spending and economic problems in the future, simplified organization and how all of them must have the same vision. That's our goal," Jokowi told reporters after the meeting of Echelon II officials at the State Palace on Tuesday.

The President gathered Echelon II personnel from all ministries and agencies to synchronize their visions.

Earlier, he reminded ministers to think and act outside of the box in the face of tough competition.

"You have to make breakthroughs and not merely do business as usual," Jokowi said.

He said the policies should be based on five things — economic growth, employment, poverty reduction, inflation issues and inequality.

"Make sure your budget has been dedicated to people running it efficiently," he asserted.

The President told the officials to remain steadfast from top to bottom, from ministers and agency chiefs to officers.

"I want all of us to run fast because the world changes very quickly, every day," he added.

The President pointed out that the government had already set its strategic national programs, focusing on priority projects. (dan)
