akarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama is scheduled to inaugurate new officials on Friday as part of his efforts to improve the performance of the bureaucracy.
The new officials include subdistrict heads, district heads and those taking up echelon II positions, said Jakarta Employment Agency head Agus Suradika.
Ahok said on Monday that dealing with the inept bureaucracy was part of his unfinished businesses as governor. He was particularly concerned about sluggish land acquisition in the city’s parks and cemeteries agency.
As many as 317 people have passed a test giving them the chance to become district heads, 114 have passed to be subdistrict heads and 49 people have passed to occupy echelon II positions. Ahok will interview the candidates to determine who deserves the posts.
Candidates who have passed the echelon II test will be included in a talent pool while they continue to work at their existing units. If echelon II positions became vacant, the governor could directly appoint candidates from the talent pool, Agus said.
