akarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has demanded that the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) audit notaries handling land acquisitions, particularly those who have handled large land acquisitions in the capital.
Ahok expressed his suspicion that many notaries had charged their clients high administrative fees.
Based on prevailing law, the maximum administrative fee for a notary is 1 percent of a transaction. But if the transaction involves a large sum, the fee should be much lower, the governor added.
“Anyone wouldn’t be so stupid to pay the notaries 4 (US$302,115) to 5 billion. Let’s say the land price is Rp 600 billion, would you want to pay the notary Rp 6 billion? There are notaries who charge only Rp 10 million,” Ahok said at City Hall on Thursday after a meeting with BPK representative I Nyoman Wara.
Therefore, he demanded that the agency audit notaries involved in large land acquisitions.
Ahok has grown suspicious of many land acquisitions in the capital because most of the involved notaries asked for an administrative fee of 1 percent.
The governor also suspected conspiracies between notaries and officials in city agencies in dealing with land acquisitions. (bbn)
