akarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama will dismiss Housing Agency head Ika Lestari Aji over alleged corruption involving the purchase of land worth Rp 668 billion (US$48 million) for a low-cost apartment project in West Cengkareng.
“We will dismiss her, maybe on Friday,” he said at City Hall on Thursday.
The case arose when the Jakarta housing division head Sukmana reported a Rp 9.6 billion grant allegedly from Toeti Noezlar Soekarno, with whom the Jakarta administration signed a land purchase agreement. Sukmana’s boss, Ika Lestari Aji, then followed it up by reporting to Ahok.
Hence, Ahok ordered Ika to report the incident to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in January. However, Toeti sued the Jakarta administration for failing to pay the remainding Rp 200 billion, which then exposed that the land was actually owned by the Jakarta administration, through its fisheries and maritime agency.
Ahok said the land purchase was fishy as the agency did not directly transfer all of the money to Toeti but to a third party who was recording as holding the power of attorney in the land sale and purchase transaction.
“Ika acted as if she was scared when reporting that there was alleged corruption in the agency. I was so furious, so I told her to investigate the matter. I knew that something was wrong related to the case,” Ahok said. (ags)
