he Jakarta administration aims to implement an electronic asset (e-asset) system this year to adequately manage all assets owned by the capital. Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said the administration might engage the National Land Agency (BPN) to manage data in the system.
“We aim for all working units [SKPD] and city-owned enterprises [BUMD] to finish entering data regarding the capital’s immovable assets in the electronic system this year. The public shall know about the city’s assets including the size, location, map and official owner of each asset,” Djarot said at City Hall on Wednesday, adding that data collection had been conducted for the last five months.
Following the alleged West Cengkareng land corruption case, Djarot admitted that asset documentation under the management of the Financial Asset Management Board (BPKAD) was severely disorganized. Some agencies had become confused about buying particular pieces of land because of the lack of documentation at the BPKAD, he said. Further, some SKPD cannot manage their assets well, as seen in the West Cengkareng case.
Djarot said there were still thousands of uncertified assets in Jakarta. Therefore, the e-asset system would be implemented immediately so that the administration would not lose any of its assets, he added. (dan)
