urder suspect Jessica Kumala Wongso rejected the testimony provided by Darmawan Salihin, father of the late Wayan Mirna Salihin, during a hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Tuesday.

Darmawan said that Jessica had told him that she had ordered mineral water for herself. The order bill showed that Jessica had ordered cocktails and Vietnamese coffee.

“I said mineral water because I ordered the water when Mirna asked for it [after drinking Vietnamese coffee]. The mineral water was never noted on the bill,” Jessica told the judges, adding that she had ordered the drinks long before Mirna and Hani arrived at the café, with the consent of Mirna, as seen in their Whatsapp group chat.

Jessica also rejected Darmawan’s claim that she had acted as if she was short of breath in order to try to avoid answering questions. He also told the court that he had seen Jessica wandering around the hospital calmly, despite having just seen her friend die.

Jessica said that she and Mirna had a good relationship, explaining that Mirna had initiated meetings with her in Sydney on several occasions. Darmawan said that Mirna had always been reluctant and scared to meet Jessica by herself.

Jessica rejected Darmawan’s claim that she might have killed Mirna because of hatred and revenge or that she felt offended by Mirna’s advice to end her relationship with her then boyfriend Patrick — as a stated in the prosecutors’ indictment.

“Mirna never knew about my relationship with Patrick. If I had wanted to talk about my relationship with my boyfriend, I would have preferred to talk to my close friends or my siblings in Sydney,” Jessica said. (bbn)
