Nearly 200 foreigners were stopped early Friday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) from leaving for Saudi Arabia due to dubious documents.
The foreigners, including 177 Indonesians and at least 10 Malaysians, were allegedly using Philippine passports.
A source from the Bureau of Immigration said that the foreigners were intercepted by the anti-human trafficking task force at around 3:30am, Friday, before they got on a Philippine Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia.
The Inquirer saw that all the foreigners’ baggage were marked “Sheik Omar Abdulaziz,” who could be the organiser of their group.
It was learned that the group was with five other Filipinos when they were intercepted.
The foreigners were rounded up and are set to be brought to the Immigration main office for investigation.
