he Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that the arrest of four Indonesian students in Gujrat district, 175 kilometers from Islamabad, Pakistan, was solely due to the expiration of visa permits.

"It's only a matter of documentation. The ongoing investigation that we’ve conducted reveals that they only overstayed their visas," deputy Foreign Minister AM Fachir said.

The four students, who are among 24 foreign students affiliated with Jamaah Tabligh, were apprehended because their visas had expired in December 2015.

According to a press statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad on Tuesday, Faiez Maulana from the embassy was quoted by tempo.co as saying that the embassy had been in contact with Jamaah Tabligh headquarters in Raiwind to identify the Indonesian students.

"We are contacting all parties to get consular access for the students," Faiez said. (evi)
