Water inundates City Hall after one hour of heavy rain

everal rooms at Jakarta City Hall office complex on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, were inundated on Monday after an hour of heavy rain.
Civil servants were busy lifting documents off the floor in their offices, such as a dentist's clinic, journalist room and an office of Jakarta administration’s overseas cooperation division.
Head of Jakarta administration general affairs bureau Agustino Darmawan said the flooding was caused by debris that blocked the drain at City Hall.
The debris came from a construction site erecting a new facility near City Hall. “We will remove debris from the drains in order to make the water drainage system usable,” Agustino said. (bbn)
