rtist Sophia Latjuba has been appointed a spokesperson for the campaign team of incumbent Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat. The team is chaired by City Council Speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi.
Sophia was proposed by the NasDem Party, one of the four political parties supporting Ahok and Djarot in the 2017 gubernatorial election, said NasDem politician Bestari Barus in Jakarta on Wednesday as reported by tribunnews.com.
Sophia and Barus are among 15 spokespersons for the Ahok-Djarot campaign team. Other spokespersons include Ahmad Basarah, Sarifuddin Sudding, Very Yonnevil, Taufik Basari, Nevi Ervina and Ruhut Sitompul.
Bestari said the spokespersons were chosen from various elements in society and Sophia represented entertainers. “If there are events related to women and entertainment, she will speak for the team,” he added.
The team is supported by dozens of people, mostly from the four political parties. The secretary of the team is TB Ace Hasan Syadzily and the treasurer is Charles Honoris. (bbn)
