akarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat are leading in the polls, Public Opinion and Policy Research (Populi Center) revealed on Thursday.

Based on a survey of 600 respondents conducted from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, Ahok and Djarot are favored by 45.5 percent of Jakarta’s residents.

Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni are favored by 23.5 percent and 15.8 percent of the city’s population, respectively. Undecided voters account for roughly 15.2 percent of the population.

"Undecided voters could raise the electoral chances of each candidate pair. As of now, we haven't seen any exodus to new candidates," Populi Center researcher Nona Evita said at her office in West Jakarta.

She added that 70.7 percent of respondents who say they support Ahok and Djarot are certain of their choice. The certainty level of people who support Anies-Sandiaga and Agus-Sylvi is 51.8 percent and 49.5 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, in a survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) and issued on Tuesday, Ahok-Djarot’s popularity rating stood at 31.4 percent, Anies-Sandiaga at 21.1 percent and Agus-Sylviana at 19.3 percent. (bbn)
