akarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has demanded Jakarta City Council to restart the deliberation of two bills related to reclamation projects in Jakarta Bay after the bills were stopped, following the arrest of a city councilor late last year.

The two bills are on Coastal Area and Islet Zonation Plan (RZWP3K) and Spatial Plan of Strategic Areas (RTRKS) on the north coast of Jakarta.

“The RZWP3K bill is ready to be approved, while the disagreement on the RTRKS bill concerns one article on additional contribution. From their testimony, developers did not object to 15 percent of additional contribution,” Ahok said as reported by tribunnews.com on Wednesday.

Ahok cited testimonies made by several officials of reclamation developers during the trial of Muhammad Sanusi, the city councilor, who was arrested for allegedly receiving bribes from a developer, who reportedly sought the decrease of additional contribution from 15 percent to 5 percent. Former CEO of Agung Podomoro Land and another official have been found guilty for bribing Sanusi.

Additional contribution was calculated from the sales of properties developed on the reclaimed land. Apart from being required to pay additional contribution, the reclamation developers were also required to put aside 5 percent of reclaimed land for the administration.

Meanwhile, Maritime Affairs and Fishery Minister Susi Pudjiastuti has called on the city administration to stop the reclamation project, pending the evaluation of its impact on the environment by the central government. She also said that Jakarta administration could not work alone in implementing the reclamation. (bbn)
