s his newly appointed deputy minister, Arcandra Tahar has said he would support Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan as the energy sector chief, stressing that he will fully support the former transportation minister to revitalize the energy sector.

Following his return to the Cabinet, the former energy minister, who was previously dismissed after serving only 20 days following a fiasco around claims that he held US citizenship, said he did not mind being given the deputy minister position, adding that his intention is to serve the nation.

"This is the best decision taken by the president and I am ready to serve wherever, whenever. This is the fate of Indonesian people who are willing to to return and serve their nation," Arcandra told reporters after the inauguration ceremony at the State Palace on Friday.

"Of course we will work together in revitalizing the energy sector in Indonesia. In this case, we need a figure like Pak Jonan and I will fully support him in carrying out his duties in the ministry," he went on.

The inauguration ceremony was held at 1:30 p.m. before President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo departed on a working visit to West Kalimantan. Vice President Jusuf Kalla was absent from the ceremony due to a visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi, while Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who was the acting energy minister, was also in West Kalimantan.
